In keeping with the ethos and oral heritage that surrounds tenkara, most practitioners understand that their sport can be elevated into a rich performance art both in terms of fishing techniques and also in relation to the components that are necessary to participate; using exquisitely hand carved and decorated shikake maki, fishing with hand tied kebari kept in beautifully carved hand made fly boxes and, of course, using hand crafted, one of a kind tamos. All these things combine together to enhance the experience and enjoyment of a days fishing usually played out in breath taking surroundings.
